Experience the History of al-Andalus like never before
Join Ustadh Abu Ayyub Marulanda and Ustadh Riyad Ramo this September for an unforgettable experience where history comes alive.
Al-Andalus: In the Footsteps of the Nasrids, the last Muslim Dynasty in Spain is a seven-day journey retracing the Islamic history of Spain through Granada, Cordoba and Seville.
September 19th-26th 2026
Objective
For over 780-years, Muslims ruled Spain leaving a legacy that can still be felt today. From the Great Mosque of Cordoba, to the bustling narrow alleyways of Seville, to the stunning views of the Alhambra in Granada, the impact of Islam in Spain can be witnessed and felt despite the absence of Islam for the past 500-hundred-years.
This experience will focus on the world of the Nasrids, the last Muslim dynasty in Spain from their capital Granada, with additional day-trips to Cordoba and Seville to uncover, Islam’s deep history in the region.
The Andalusi Muslims in their own words
During this experience you will go through several short Nasrid texts including the 15th century chronicle Nubdhat al-ʿAṣr fī Akhbār Mulūk Banī Naṣr (“A Glimpse of the Age Regarding the History of the Nasrid Kings”), the last known Nasrid work ever written which details the final years of the dynasty.
Experiencing travel through reflection
Visit key sights throughout Granada such as the Alhambra, the Generalife, Albaicin and others, highlighting the legacy of the Nasrids as well as day trips to the Mezquita-Catedral in Cordoba and the Alcazar in Seville. Ponder upon the lessons and signs Allah ﷻ has left us
